Titanium ISO Caliper Mount – Precision Disc Brake Tab for Custom Frames
What Is an ISO Caliper Mount?
The ISO (International Standard) caliper mount — also known as an IS tab or disc tab — is the unthreaded mounting bracket welded or brazed onto a frame or fork to accept disc brake calipers. ISO mounts feature two 6mm eyelets spaced 51mm apart (center-to-center) , with bolts running parallel to the hub axle.

Installation Notes
The ISO caliper mount is typically TIG welded onto the frame dropout at the designated mounting position.
Important considerations:
-
Mitering required: The mount must be precisely contoured to match the 38mm dropout radius for proper fit and a clean weld joint
-
Ensure proper alignment before welding — the caliper mount must be positioned correctly relative to the rotor
-
Use appropriate heat control to maintain material properties (Grade 5 titanium requires proper shielding gas)
-
Post-weld cleaning recommended for cosmetic finish
